  • Guidelines for Oral Presentations

    • Parallel Sessions

Oral presentations can either be done live (on-site or online) or pre-recorded and then played back live during your session.

For pre-recorded presentations, you or your co-author/s must register for the conference and attend the session in order to facilitate the playback of your pre-recorded presentation file.

Each presentation should not be more than 10 minutes in length. Since time usually goes very fast when one is presenting, it would be best to state your key points or findings at the beginning. Keep your introductory remarks very short (not more than 1 minute), and avoid reading every line on your slides.

To ensure that you are able to make a complete presentation within the time allotment, do not prepare too many slides. If you spend one minute per slide, then the maximum number of slides for 10 minutes is 10 slides. If there is at least one slide that you need to explain a little bit, then you should have fewer than 10 slides.

💡 Tip: After you have prepared your presentation, review each slide to see how essential it is to your presentation. And then remove slides that are not necessary. Put key points first in case you run out of time.

    • Panel Sessions

The Moderator opens the session, welcomes participants, and introduces the topic. Each panel discussant will be introduced, with their designations and affiliations, followed by a brief overview of session objectives and expected outcomes.

Each panel discussants, either onsite or online, require a 15-minute presentation of their topic related to the assigned theme. Presentation slides may be used for emphasis. The Moderator leads a structured dialogue among panel discussants based on key guiding questions. Panel discussants are encouraged to comment on or build upon one another’s ideas.

Participants may raise questions or share relevant experiences during the open forum to be facilitated by the moderator.

  • Guidelines for PechaKucha Presentations

    1. Presenters are limited to the PechaKucha format and must adhere to the standard formatting of 20 slides for 20 seconds each. You may submit your pechakucha files via https://url.upou.edu.ph/ICHP-PechakuchaMaterials

    2. Each PechaKucha presentation should not exceed 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

    3. A short Q&A from the audience will be held after each presentation.

    • General Information

      1. Be aware of the time limitations with the presentation.

      2. This presentation type is meant to be a storytelling approach with minimal wording on the slides.

      3. We recommend keeping these four things in mind when creating this type of presentation.

      4. It should be engaging. Since the slides will advance every 20 seconds, the presentation should keep the audience's attention.

      5. It should be highly visual. This presentation type relies on pictures. The use of words on the slides should be minimal to make the presentation more memorable.

      6. It should focus on one topic. The time limit of each slide is to keep the presenter on track with presenting their work with minimal time for tangents.

      7. It should promote creative thinking. This presentation type should challenge the presenters to be concise and strategically use images to connect the ideas.

    • Animation

      1. Limit animations.

      2. If using animation, be sure that animation is timed, and transitions do not occur on the click.
